Vyacheslav Nikonov is a respected Russian political consultant and analyst, well known both inside the country and internationally. Since 2007 he has been the Executive Director of the Management Board at Russkiy Mir Foundation. Since 1993 Mr. Nikonov has served as President of the “Polity” Foundation and in 2003 he became President of the 'Unity for Russia' Foundation. Vyacheslav Nikonov is active in many political and policy organizations. He is president of Club – 93; Vice-President of the Association of Political Consultancy Centers; Deputy Chairman of the Editorial Board, "Russia in Global Affairs;" Member of the Board, Council on Foreign and Defense Policy; Member of the Board, Russian Public Policy Center; and a member of the Advisory Council, Carnegie Endowment (Moscow Branch). He is also editor-in-chief of "Russia’s Strategy."
From 1994 to 1996, Mr. Nikonov was a member of the State Duma, where he served as the chairman of the Subcommittee for International Security and Arms Control. His long career in Russian and Soviet politics and government includes serving as the Deputy Chairman of President Yeltsin’s re-election campaign; speechwriter for the CPSU Central Committee; and assistant to the Chief of Staff, Office of the President of the USSR. Vyacheslav Nikonov’s academic credentials include serving as a ten-year senior research fellow at the History Department of Moscow State University, a senior fellow at the "Reforma" Foundation, and a professor of political science at California Institute of Technology in the U.S.
In 1997-2001 Vyacheslav Nikonov was a member of the political Advisory Council under the President of the Russian Federation, the Human Rights Committee under the President of the Russian Federation and the Presidential Expert Council on Political Extremism.
Born in 1956, Vyacheslav Nikonov has a M.A. in History (1978) and a Ph.D. in History (1982) in history in Moscow State University. He began his researcher's career in 1978, in the same University. He is grandchild of V.M. Molotov, the former soviet Foreign Minister.
He is the author of over 600 works on politics, government affairs and public policy, including 7 books.
